Yesterday was our Annual Dads Take Your Child To School Day.  The event was organized in collaboration with I.S. 129 and C.S. 300 to celebrate the committed fathers and positive male figures in our students lives.  We recognize that when fathers are involved in the education of our students, these students learn more, perform better, and exhibit healthier behavior.

This year, we are excited to announce that we hosted over 400 people.  Our intent on celebrating our dads became an opportunity to celebrate the community.  We had businesses that supported our event by providing discounts to the attendees, which include:

  • Pablo Perez at Paradise Barbershop
  • Johnathan & Caesar at Urban Starz Barbershop
  • Bryan at Flow Barber Shop
  • Payless Shoes
  • Checkers

We were honored to have Timothy Tapia, Director of Community Affairs for the Office of the Public Advocate Letitia James & District Leader of the 86th Assembly District in the Bronx and Mr. Newton Brown from ACS as our guest speakers.  The Mary Mitchell Center sent representatives to offer its after school program to the families, and the Workforce1 provided a list of available jobs from its Industrial Transportation and Construction Center to assist parents who are in need of work.
